s the Brass Rail murder trial edges toward a verdict, one of the staples in the prosecution’s case has been closed-circuit surveillance tape from inside and outside the Yonge Street strip club.
On trial are two men charged in the shooting death of Torontonian John O’Keefe, slain by a single bullet two years ago as he walked past the club on his way home.
But videotape only goes so far. Often crucial in murder trials is something more traditional: the crime-scene map.
In this instance the jury has had two maps to examine: one showing the layout of the Brass Rail, and a second juxtaposing it with the pub down the street where Mr. O’Keefe had spent the evening.
