Toronto Strip Clubs: Bird’s-Eye View – The Montreal-Toronto connection

March 22nd, 2010 · No Comments

There’s a palpable edge to the Montreal-Boston and Toronto-Ottawa rivalries that seldom rears its ugly head when the Canadiens play the Leafs, maybe because hockey’s oldest and most fabled rivalry is a celebration of our heritage as much as it is a sporting event. The almost complete absence of genuine ill-will is akin to the battlefield chivalry between two familiar foes with deadly intent towards each other, but a time-honored sense of mutual respect born of a rich and storied past.
I’m as bemused as any Montrealer by the blue and white face-painted, Tie Domi jersey-wearing, Tim Horton’s donut-eating, Molson Canadian-drinking, go-Leafs-go chanting hosers who come in from Toronto by the trainload when the Leafs visit the Bell Centre, but I’m here to tell you that Toronto fans conduct themselves with considerably greater decorum at their home games than they do when they’re here, maybe because they’re already resigned to going home to bed after the game, as opposed to forsaking a good night’s sleep in favour of a 24 hour casino and the world’s finest strip clubs.

Toronto Strip Clubs: Crown paints callous image of strip-club suspect

March 22nd, 2010 · No Comments

Mr. Paredes admits he took his legally owned handgun with him when he invited Mr. Zekarias to go celebrate his birthday at the Brass Rail strip club on Yonge Street.
In the early hours of Jan. 12, 2008, the two were ejected by bouncers. An angry Mr. Paredes fired his gun and killed a 42-year-old passerby, John O’Keefe.
Mr. Paredes and Mr. Zekarias are accused of second-degree murder.
The jury heard that the tragedy could have been avoided but for some twists of fate – a cancelled limo, a missing chair.
The initial plan, organized by a female friend, was for a group of partygoers to rent a limo to drive them to the Guvernment night club. But the limo rental fell through. So instead, the two accused and four other men went to the Brass Rail.

Inside the strip club, there was only five chairs for the six of them so Mr. Paredes wandered off. Mr. Zekarias decided to join him.

Toronto Adult Entertainment: Julianne Moore: Don’t hire hookers

March 22nd, 2010 · No Comments

Actress Julianne Moore urges married women not to follow her character’s lead in new film Chloe – and hire hookers to trap potential cheating husbands.
The Hours star insists it’s always best to confront your partner if you suspect infidelity – before turning to others for help.
In Chloe, Moore hires a prostitute, portrayed by Amanda Seyfried, to test her husband (Liam Neeson).
But the actress hopes suspicious women don’t take the movie home with them.
She says, “Having been married for a long time and having friends who were married a long time I can’t tell you the phone calls I’ve gotten from somebody saying, ‘Listen, I have to talk to you about this because I think he’s doing X.’
“You say to them, ‘Have you talked to him about it?’ and they haven’t. I think women do that a lot. I think we turn to our friends and say, ‘He was out really late? Do you think he’s seeing somebody?’

Toronto Adult Entertainment: Daring to give Moore

March 22nd, 2010 · No Comments

Adapted from Anne Fontaine’s Parisian three-hander Nathalie (2003), Moore plays a Toronto gynecologist who, suspecting her husband (Liam Neeson) of infidelity, commissions a prostitute to seduce him and report back: This is Catherine’s creative way of looking for clues that might explain why the spark has exited the bedroom. It’s a thoroughly French scenario, given a cool Canadian twist by director Atom Egoyan.

Like much of Moore’s best work, this is an understatement. In both films, gynecologist and prostitute grow intriguingly codependent. In Nathalie, the emotional connection threatens to turn sexual, but no sooner is that door opened that it’s closed again. Egoyan barges right on through. The result is that Moore and the comely Amanda Seyfried — 24 years her junior — find themselves acting out every male fantasist’s softly lit girl-on-girl scenario.

Amanda Seyfried Sheds ‘Dear John’ Image in ‘Chloe’

Following Mean Girls, she landeded the recurring role on the HBO hit Big Love and continues to deliver solid performances to this day. She recently starred alongside Megan Fox in Jennifer’s Body and became a true box office star with the Nicholas Sparks romance Dear John.
Unlike any of the roles she’s played thus far, Seyfried will take on the role of a scheming prostitute in Atom Egoyan’s Chloe. Macleans.ca reports on Seyfried’s new film and how she garnered the coveted role in Egoyan’s new film.

Toronto Adult Entertainment: Olson’s life behind bars

March 22nd, 2010 · No Comments

When he went before the parole board after serving his first 25 years, he asked if I would be a character witness for him. I replied that if I was the best he could find for a character witness, he’d be doomed to stay forever in prison. Olson laughed.
$500Gs in Australia
These days he’s focused on money. He claims (and remember, “claims” are not necessarily facts), to have a bank balance of some $500,000 in Australia from the sale of his murder memorabilia. Items about him are on sale on an Internet site called murderauction.com.
When he talks of this “wealth”, I tend to put it in the category of the unsolved murders for which he claims responsibility. (In the early years, the police would take him to various murder sites, but found nothing. Eventually the police caught on and ignored his claims. For years he had immunity in the state of Washington if he’d identify the Seattle Green River murderer of 50 prostitutes, whom he claimed as a friend).
