Toronto Strip Clubs: Nazim Gillani rumour rundown: what’s true, what’s not

April 30th, 2010 · No Comments

Status: Unclear. Snowdy says he has the info, which prompted the prime minister to call the RCMP on the night of April 8 right before Guergis stepped down as minister, but it’s all very tight-lipped right now. Gillani denied the claim in yesterday’s testimony and Guergis has also refuted it. It’s also a weird coincidence that Guergis and Jaffer recently traveled to Belize.
Rumour: He does business in the VIP room of a strip club. Origin: The original Gillani article in the Star says Gillani refers to Club Paradise as his “Bloor Street office.” Status: Unclear. Global News confirmed with the staff at Club Paradise that Gillani is a client but says there is no VIP room at the club in which to conduct business. Still, many disgruntled businessmen say they’ve gone to the club with Gillani, and there might be cell phone photos to prove it. While we don’t know what the men talked about, it’s hard to believe they didn’t talk about business even once.

Toronto Strip Clubs: Dance superstar Rex Harrington to wed beau of six years next summer

April 29th, 2010 · No Comments

The charismatic dancer figures he’ll probably wear something “snazzy” during the ceremony – and may even do some moves in front of the altar.
“Oh yeah, there might be a little choreography comin’ down the aisle or something – Beyonce might be in there,” Harrington mused as he started singing the pop star’s hit, “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It).”
Harrington and Hope first met through mutual friends in Toronto, where they now live together in their west-end house that was just rebuilt after a fire a year and a half ago.
Hope spotted the ballet master across the way and asked: “Who’s that handsome guy over there?” said Harrington, who is one of the most recognizable male dancers in Canada.
“They went, ‘Oh, that’s Rex Harrington,’ like he should know. And he said, ‘Well, is that a stripper? Sounds like a stripper name. I don’t know who he is.”‘

Toronto Massage Parlors: Eddie Izzard can’t be pinned down

April 28th, 2010 · No Comments

Izzard was in town recently, in advance of an extensive Canadian comedy tour that begins on Friday at Toronto’s Massey Hall. Asked about fellow comedian Craig Ferguson, he perks ups. Says they’re old friends, that they go way back. Oh, really? How far back do you go? “Oh, just right down there, across the road,” he says from a hotel bar, motioning out the window from his corner booth. “Just past the Starbucks. That’s how far we go back.”
I see.
Somewhat incidentally, a couple of days later, I’m talking with Ferguson. When the subject of Izzard comes up, the Scottish-American talk-show host, who played Massey last week, says something identical. “Oh yeah, Eddie and I, we go way back.” Funny you should say that, because Eddie told me exactly the same thing, that the two of you go back a ways, up the street, over by the coffee shop. “Oh, no,” Ferguson corrects, “we go further back than that.” Really? How far? “Past the coffee shop, well down the street, closer to the massage parlour,” he says.

Toronto Adult Entertainment: Mayoral candidates not afraid to stand up for the cause

April 28th, 2010 · No Comments

Mr. Schuller said the improv sessions with the candidates will be good-natured.
“The purpose of this is not to go after them,” he said. “We leave that to you, the press.”
Still, there will be plenty of comic gold to mine, beginning with Mr. Mammoliti’s appearance Thursday. “I’m actually looking forward to the artists’ spin on Mammoliti. It’ll be a fun evening,” the candidate said.
The York West councillor, whose radio advertisements end with the tagline, “Let them call me outrageous!” is in favour of armed bylaw officers, red-light districts, casinos and curfews for teenagers.
“When we ask for [improv suggestions] from our audience so many times we’ll get, ‘prostitute! hookers!’” Ms. Boyers said. “I think between our audience and that first candidate coming in it’s going to be a pretty raucous night.”

April 26th, 2010 · No Comments

In comments late Friday, Giannoulias called the banks closing an incredibly sad and heartbreaking day for me and my family, adding when he left the bank in 2006 to become state treasurer it was one of the best-performing in Illinois.
He said he would only fight harder to win the Senate seat.
Republicans have condemned Giannoulias role in the banks soured real estate portfolio that included loans to such figures as convicted prostitution ring operator Michael Jaws Giorango. Loans were also made to convicted influence peddler Antoin Tony Rezko, who also was a fund-raiser for Obama.

Mammoliti suggests bylaw officers be armed with guns
cp24.com
A Toronto mayoral candidate is suggesting the city’s bylaw officers should be armed with guns to better deal with people breaking the law.
Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti says bylaw officers should have the power to arrest people who are caught posting signs or writing graffiti on city-owned property.
He says they need guns because they’re often the first at the scene of less-than-ideal situations. He points out a massage parlour and heroin den in his York West ward as an example of what bylaw officers have to deal with.
“These guys are the first ones to go in and give them a fine and do what they need to do,” Mammoliti tells CP24.
“(Bylaw officers) feel threatened. It’s time we give the tools to our enforcement officers that they need to make them feel comfortable,” he says.

Toronto Strip Clubs: Promoter Gillani works hard, plays hard

April 25th, 2010 · No Comments

Yes, Gillani enjoys booze and strip clubs, Roe said.
“That’s how Naz blows off steam.”
But Roe says he had no issues with Gillani’s performance. “Mr. Gillani worked his ass off. We had no issue with his effort.”

“There was no promise of access to politicians,” Roe said, adding it had nothing to do with lobbying.
At Club Paradise, a Toronto strip club, staff confirmed that Gillani is a patron and always a “gentleman.” They denied claims in the Star that Gillani did business out of the club’s VIP lounge. There is no VIP lounge, they said.
