Many countries around the world today have put forward legislated laws that criminalize prostitution, but not such activities as escort services.
Toronto, capital of the mostly populated province of Ontario, is the largest city in Canada that is home to a number of agencies operating escort services.
But escort service agencies here pointed out that there is an obvious difference between prostitution and escort services and it clearly lies in the kind of services sought and provided.
They cited for instance that in spite of negative perception and labeling, the recruitment of exotic dancers into Canada is legal, with 1,000 employment authorizations for foreign exotic dancers being issued every year.

“What makes escort service more acceptable and not legally compromising compared to street prostitution which is prohibited by law, is that men pay for time spent, companionship and other services that do not even involve sex,” the statement said.
