The $100,000 reward has been renewed for a tip, some knowledge, a name – anything – that would help York homicide detectives arrest and convict the person who executed two women and a man at a Markham massage parlour.

In the last two decades Richmond has become Vancouver’s new Chinatown, home to the second-biggest Asian community in North America; Asian Canadians now make up about 60% of Richmond’s population.
Stepping into one of Richmond’s shopping malls is a quick trip to the contemporary Orient. Yaohan Centre has a giant pan-Asian supermarket, and Aberdeen Centre is classic, over-the-top Hong Kong, right down to a showy multimedia water-fountain production in the foyer.
There are Sikh temples, the biggest Buddhist temple in North America, Chinese foot massage parlors and herb shops, but I go to Richmond to eat, especially at the Richmond Night Market, open weekends throughout the summer. You can smell the spicy lamb kebabs and sautéed noodles long before you reach the maze of 300 stalls lighted by strings of lights and hazed in plumes of smoke from grilled squid and prawns.

… Your voice has changed,” Jim said after a few seconds.
Whoa. Wrong Rocco. It was Rocco Achampong, a former U of T student leader. He’s fringe, but his Rocco For Mayor campaign is gonna drive the other Rocco nuts. Not to mention confuse folks in the ballot booth.
Rossi must be muttering “What are the odds? Two Roccos?” He better hope Rocco Mediate doesn’t join the fray. Or even Rockin’ Rob Ford.
To add to the weirdness, Jim Richards’ show is followed by that of John Tory, the likely winner until he bowed out.
The front pack is fleshed out with councillors Giorgio “Not George” Mammoliti and Joe “Pants On The Ground” Pantalone.
Mammoliti has waged war on massage parlours and proposes a red light district. He also favours curfews and a fat expense account.

… It’s causing a bit of a financial crisis for us,” Davis says. “We’re all relying on the local clientele right now. As more and more (sex) workers come here, our income is being divided even more.”
Davis says that recently she went two days without getting a single call from a client. “Never in my career has that happened before.”
Davis acknowledges that there will be a brief flurry of business while the Olympics are on, but warns any out-of-town escorts to make sure they have a plan in place before heading out there to cash in on it.
“One girl I know came out here from Calgary, thinking she could just find a job at a massage parlour, but no one was hiring. She came without a lot of money in her pocket because she was expecting to be working right away and it just wasn’t there. She got stuck.”

11 Charged after massage parlour raid
…
Police have charged 11 people following a raid on a brothel posing as an “exotic” massage parlour in downtown Toronto. One person accused of being a manager at the Toronto Health Spa was charged with keeping a common bawdy house, while the other 10 face lesser charges of being inmates of a common body house. Detective Sergeant Mike Ervick said he expects more charges to be laid against affiliates of the spa that were “higher up the chain.” Four male clients were at the spa at the time of the raid, but will not be charged, Det.-Sgt. Ervick said. Instead, they will be used as witnesses should the case come to trial, “whether they’d like to or not.” The spa was located at the intersection of Gerrard Street and Yonge Street, next to the popular Delta Chelsea hotel.

The Toronto Health Spa remains closed after police alleged it was operating as a brothel. The entrance is pictured here on Gerrard St., just west of Yonge St. in Toronto, on Thursday, December 10, 2009 (QMI Agency/Ernest Doroszuk)
TORONTO — Teenaged girls were actively recruited from local youth shelters to work at a brothel fronting as a massage parlour perched above a downtown pub, police say.
It was this information that led downtown vice cops to raid Toronto Health Spa early Wednesday evening, Det. Frank Giancola said yesterday.
As of yesterday, 10 women between 24 and 32 years old were charged with being inmates of a common bawdy house and an 11th woman was charged with keeping a common bawdy house.
More charges, including procuring a person under 18 to become a prostitute and living on the avails of a minor prostitute, could be laid as the investigation continues.
