Stebbings, 38, started acting at the age of 12 (he appeared in CTV’s Flashpoint and Would Be Kings) before branching out into screenwriting. He wrote the script more than four years ago for the film, a sweet story of a superhero dressed in a black toque with a duct tape D on his chest, who combs the city streets at night in search of his arch-enemy, Captain Industry. In his attempts to combat crime, Arthur ends up stumbling into an actual crime ring and befriends a young crack-addict prostitute, Kat (Kat Dennings).

“Peter hooked me up with a lot of great people that had experience in this world. Crack addicts, prostitutes – until slowly I began to understand how a person like this might act and think,” says Philadelphia-born Dennings, whose previous film credits include The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, with Canadian Michael Cera.
